This beautiful Galileo thermometer reads temperatures from 64 degrees Farenheit to 80 degrees Farenheit. When temperature rises, the liquid inside the glass tube becomes less dense, causing the colorful, liquid-filled bulbs to sink one by one. When the room cools, the reverse occurs and the bulbs start to rise. Read the gold medallion on the lowest bulb in the uppermost group of bulbs to get the current temperature. The thermometer is paired with an etched glass barometer globe. Variations in barometric pressure are associated with weather systems and these changes are immediately revealed by the water level in the spout. A low level of liquid in the spout indicates high-pressure and fair weather ahead. A high liquid level means bad weather is imminent. Mounted on a wooden base, this pair makes a handsome desk or maltlepiece accessory and a definite conversation piece. Size: 10″H x 4 1/2″W x 8″D, weighs 2.6 lbs.
