Vixen VMC110L Cassegrain with Porta II Altazimuth Mount – Product Warranty: Five year
Type of Product: Vixen > Cassegrain Telescopes
Here is one of the best multiple purpose grab and go telescopes that is perfectly suited for looking at the stars as it is the bird in the tree half a mile away. With more light gathering capability than anything else in this price range and an extremely light weight at just 4.6lbs., you might just forget you packed it with you to the top of that ridgeline (well okay maybe not!). Don’t let it’s diminutive size and weight fool you, many telescopes like this design are used for research around the globe and even outside our atmosphere! You’ll be blown away by its snap focus and razor like images. The Vixen VMC110L is a 110mm (4.33″) aperture modified Cassegrain f/9.4 optical tube assembly. The VMC110L features a small corrector lens ahead of the secondary mirror. This compact optical tube, with features found on Vixen’s higher end telescopes, is a great pick up and go telescope. The Porta II altazimuth mount gives great performance when viewing objects at high magnification, the damping and vibration being significantly reduced as compared to other lesse quality telescope mounts.

Vixen VMC200L Optical Tube Assembly – Product Warranty: Five year
Type of Product: Vixen > Cassegrain Telescopes
The VMC200L is a unique catadioptric optical system. It incorporates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector just before a secondary mirror. By doing so, light is corrected twice on the optical path. The end result is that spherical aberration and field curvature are corrected to a high degree of optical performance. The VMC200L’s primary mirror is f/2.5; the compound optical system is f/9.75. This makes the system much more compact and portable than its competition. With the optical correction placed before the secondary mirror, the VMC200L avoids the necessity of having a corrector plate and all the dewing problems associated with a closed optical tube. An additional key feature is the rack and pinion focusing that is placed behind the primary mirror. The use of this focusing system eliminates the image shift associated with most other SCT systems. This is especially important when using high power magnification or astro-photography. When focusing, the image is stable and easy to adjust. Manufactured in Japan.

Vixen SXD-VC200L Review
A review of Vixen SXD-VC200L.
Price: 4,999.00 USD
Manufacturer: Vixen
Vixen SXD-VC200L – Product Warranty: Five year
Type of Product: Vixen > Cassegrain Telescopes
Vixen’s unique catadioptric design features a high precision sixth order aspherical primary mirror, a convex secondary mirror and triplet corrector lens. VISAC is an abbreviation for Vixen’s Six-Order Aspherical Cassegrain. The primary mirror is held by a retaining ring, instead of hooks to decrease flare and enhance contrast. The VC200L is an 8″ f/9.0 highly corrected, highly specialized telescope for astro imaging. The VISAC provides high-definition star images to the edge of a wide viewing field and offers exceptionally outstanding performance in astrophotography. Even at the edge of the 35mm film format (larger CCD chips) stars are sharp (smaller than 15 micrometers). This is smaller than the resolution of fine quality CCD cameras, which means that the telescope does not limit the image qualilty. With its elaborate aspherical optical design it achieves an excellent image correction throughout the large illuminated field (42mm diameter fully illuminated). With the f/6.4 reducer you get much shorter exposure times. The reducer is a highly recommended optional accessory. Pair this with Vixen’s SPHINX SXD Mount with the STAR BOOK hand controller and you have a system designed with Astrophotographers in mind. The SXD Mount equipped with thrust bearings, achieves an increased loading capacity of 50 lbs. The smooth RA and DEC axes provide increased viewing experience.

Vixen VMC110L with SkyPod and Table Top Tripod – Product Warranty: Five year
Type of Product: Vixen > Cassegrain Telescopes
The Vixen VMC110L, a 110 mm aperture modified Cassegrain f/9.4 optical tube. Its features include a curved vane secondary mirror spider to reduce diffraction effects, and a correcting meniscus lens just ahead of the Secondary Mirror. The Skypod is a unique portable alt-azimuth computer controlled GoTo mount that evolved from the very successful Vixen Sphinx mount. The Skypod incorporates a compact computer controlled Alt-Az system that automatically slews the telescope from one object to another. The 22,000 plus object data base provides an endless variety of objects to view and is upgradeable. This new and portable GoTo travel mount uses the modified Star Book S hand controller that offers the same practical user concept of the Sphinx controller. A display shows a map of the sky so that you always know where you are. The controller is integrated into the mount. You can take it off for remote control, but you can always put it back for safe storage and transport. This means that for transport you can avoid all the separate small parts that are otherwise easily lost. Because the Skypod is based on Vixen’s flexible mounting system, a wide variety of telescopes will easily and quickly attach to this mount. Skypod provides good portability combined with ease of use and versatility. You can store the mount and the telescope separately. For airline traveling you can take the VMC110L along as carry-on luggage while the mount goes with the rest of your luggage.
