2″ Orion Extra Narrowband Filter Set – Product Warranty: One year
Type of Product: Telescope Accessories > Filters

Orion’s 2″ Extra Narrowband Hydrogen-Alpha, Oxygen-III, and Sulfur-II filters are designed to enhance the contrast of emission nebulae in monochrome astrophotography. They are perfect for using with a monochrome CCD camera like Orion’s Parsec 8300M Astronomical Imaging Camera. Imaging with extra-narrowband filters is the latest technique used by amateur astronomers for producing striking, high-contrast color CCD astrophotos of emission nebulae. These specialized ‘line’ filters transmit only the specific wavelengths of light important in these nebulae, while blocking out all the rest. They blacken the background sky to produce high-contrast images, even in heavily light-polluted or brightly moonlit skies. The filters can be used separately or in combination with a filter wheel for advanced tri-color astrophotography. Capture your favorite nebulae in a revealing new light – no matter how light-polluted your skies. Add Orion’s 2″ Extra Narrowband CCD Filters to your imaging repertoire! Includes a protective plastic case for each.

The Moon’s disk, even at partial phases, is intensely bright with reflected sunlight. The glare washes out most of the craters, rilles, and other surface details from view. Our Moon Filter reduces the glare, allowing transmission of only 13% of the reflected light. Not only will you see more surface features, but you can study them in greater comfort. The filter reduces irradiation, which is the distortion at the boundary between light and dark areas, such as along the lunar terminator. The Orion Moon Filter is especially useful to owners of large-aperture scopes, in which the Moon’s brightness can be overwhelming. It uniformly reduces light over the entire visible spectrum. Screws into threaded eyepiece barrel.

Orion UltraBlock Narrowband Filter, 1.25″ – Product Warranty:
Type of Product: Telescope Accessories > Filters

The UltraBlock is the filter for deep-sky observers located at highly light-polluted sites. Blocks all forms of light pollution – mercury vapor and sodium emission bands – while passing the critical hydrogen-beta and ionized oxygen wavelengths. With an UltraBlock, emission and planetary nebulas “surface” from the washed out background sky. In dark skies, the UltraBlock also enhances the sky presence of a significant number of fainter deep-sky objects over unfiltered and wideband-filtered views.
